XLR Cables

XLR cables are widely used in professional audio applications, such as recording studios, live sound, and broadcasting, due to their ability to provide a balanced signal that reduces noise and interference, and offers superior sound quality and reliability compared to unbalanced cables.

The XLR connector consists of three pins and a metal casing, which provides a secure and reliable connection while also shielding the signal from electromagnetic interference. The pins are arranged in a male-female configuration, with the male connector having three prongs that plug into the female connector’s corresponding holes.

The balanced signal provided by XLR cables consists of two signals of equal strength but opposite polarity, known as the positive and negative phases, and a ground wire. This balanced signal reduces noise and interference by cancelling out any signals that are common to both phases, resulting in a cleaner, more reliable audio signal.

In addition to providing a balanced signal, XLR cables also feature high-quality shielding, which helps prevent electromagnetic interference from other devices, such as lighting fixtures, computers, and wireless equipment. This shielding, combined with the balanced signal, makes XLR cables ideal for use in noisy environments, such as recording studios or live concert venues.

There are several different types of XLR cables, including microphone cables, patch cables, and snake cables. Microphone cables are typically used to connect microphones to mixers or amplifiers and are available in various lengths and configurations. Patch cables are shorter XLR cables used to connect equipment within a rack or between adjacent racks, while snake cables are longer XLR cables used to connect equipment across a larger distance, such as from a stage to a mixing console.

Overall, XLR cables are a reliable and high-quality choice for professional audio applications. While they are more expensive than other types of cables, their superior sound quality, noise reduction capabilities, and reliability make them a worthwhile investment for anyone who values high-quality audio.

We carry the entire range of XLR Cables from the top international manufacturers for home audio and pro audio.
