Powerful 8 Inch Long Throw Woofer

At the heart of the Edifier SW8 is an 8 inch long throw active driver engineered to move substantial amounts of air while maintaining good control. The long throw design allows the woofer to produce powerful low frequencies despite the relatively compact dimensions of the subwoofer.

For music listeners, this means bass guitars, drums, electronic bass lines and orchestral low frequencies can gain additional weight and presence. Rather than relying entirely on your main speakers to reproduce frequencies they may struggle to handle effectively, the SW8 provides dedicated low frequency reinforcement.

The result is a more complete and satisfying stereo listening experience.

For movies and entertainment, the additional low frequency energy can also make soundtracks, effects and cinematic sequences feel larger and more immersive.

Powerful 170W Class D Amplification

A capable woofer needs suitable amplification, and the Edifier SW8 includes a dedicated 170W Class D amplifier.

Class D amplification provides high power efficiency while allowing the amplifier section to remain compact. The built in amplifier is specifically matched to the SW8 driver, removing the need for a separate external power amplifier.

The combination of the long throw 8 inch woofer and 170W amplification gives the SW8 the ability to produce surprisingly substantial bass from a compact enclosure.

Whether you enjoy acoustic music, jazz, rock, electronic music or movie soundtracks, the SW8 is designed to provide bass that adds scale and impact to the listening experience.

Analogue Preamplifier for Precise Audio Performance

The Edifier SW8 uses an analogue preamplifier to provide precise signal processing before amplification.

This approach is designed to maintain a clean signal path while allowing the subwoofer to deliver controlled and responsive low frequencies. Bass should not simply be loud. Good subwoofer performance also depends on definition, timing and the ability to integrate naturally with the main speakers.

When properly adjusted, the SW8 extends the bass response of your system without drawing unnecessary attention to the location of the subwoofer.

This makes it equally suitable for dedicated stereo listening and home entertainment systems where controlled bass reproduction is important.

Adjustable Gain, Crossover and Phase Controls

Every listening room behaves differently, which is why proper subwoofer adjustment is important. The Edifier SW8 provides essential controls to help you achieve better integration with your speakers and listening environment.

The gain control allows you to adjust the overall subwoofer output. This makes it possible to add subtle low frequency reinforcement for music or increase the bass presence when you want greater impact.

The variable low pass crossover lets you determine the frequency range handled by the subwoofer. This is particularly useful when pairing the SW8 with bookshelf or compact active speakers, as the crossover can be adjusted to create a smoother transition between the speakers and subwoofer.

Phase control provides additional flexibility when positioning the SW8 within your room. Correct phase adjustment can help improve bass integration and reduce unwanted cancellation around the listening position.

Together, these controls allow the Edifier SW8 Powered Subwoofer to be tuned according to your speakers, room and personal listening preferences.

Designed for Seamless Integration with Active Speakers

The Edifier SW8 Powered Subwoofer is an excellent companion for compatible active loudspeakers.

It integrates particularly well with the A80, A100 and SM200 active speakers, extending their low frequency capabilities and helping create a more complete full range audio system.

Compact speakers can deliver excellent imaging, clarity and midrange performance, but cabinet size naturally limits how much deep bass they can reproduce. Adding the SW8 allows the main speakers to be complemented by a dedicated low frequency driver.

This combination can be especially effective for listeners who enjoy modern music, electronic tracks, rock, jazz and movie soundtracks where deeper bass contributes significantly to the overall listening experience.

Flexible Line Level and LFE Connectivity

The Edifier SW8 is not restricted to any particular speaker model or system.

With line level and LFE RCA inputs, it can be integrated into a wide variety of compatible stereo and home entertainment systems.

An LFE connection makes the SW8 suitable for compatible AV receivers and home theatre systems with a dedicated subwoofer output. Its line level connectivity also provides flexibility when integrating the subwoofer with suitable stereo components and powered speaker systems.

This flexible approach makes the Edifier SW8 a versatile choice for anyone looking to add a powered subwoofer to an existing audio setup.

Compact Design with Serious Bass Performance

One of the major advantages of the Edifier SW8 is its ability to provide substantial low frequency reinforcement without dominating the room.

Large subwoofers are not always practical, particularly in bedrooms, offices, compact living rooms and desktop audio environments. The SW8 provides an attractive alternative for listeners who want meaningful bass extension from a more manageable enclosure.

Its clean and understated appearance also makes it easier to integrate visually into a modern home audio system.

The compact form factor means you can enjoy dedicated low frequency reproduction without having to accommodate an excessively large cabinet.

Excellent for Music Listening

A good powered subwoofer can significantly improve a stereo music system when correctly integrated.

The Edifier SW8 can add greater weight to kick drums, more texture to bass guitars and deeper extension to electronic music. It can also provide additional scale to orchestral recordings and atmospheric music where low frequency information contributes to the overall sense of space.

The adjustable crossover and gain controls allow listeners to tune the SW8 so that the bass complements rather than overwhelms the main speakers.

For listeners using compact bookshelf or active speakers, this can create a much larger and more authoritative sound without replacing the existing speakers.

The SW8 can therefore be an excellent upgrade for music lovers who are satisfied with the clarity and imaging of their current speakers but want greater low frequency depth and impact.

Enhance Movies and Home Entertainment

The Edifier SW8 is equally capable when used for movies, television and gaming.

Movie soundtracks often contain substantial low frequency information that smaller speakers cannot reproduce convincingly. Adding the SW8 provides greater impact during action sequences, musical scores and dramatic effects.

Gaming systems can also benefit from the additional low frequency response, adding greater physical presence to explosions, vehicles and environmental effects.

With its LFE RCA input, the SW8 can be connected to compatible home theatre equipment for dedicated low frequency reproduction.

The combination of compact dimensions and powerful amplification makes it suitable for entertainment systems where space is limited but impactful bass remains a priority.

Who Should Buy the Edifier SW8?

The Edifier SW8 Powered Subwoofer is an excellent choice for listeners who want deeper bass without installing a very large subwoofer.

It is particularly suitable for owners of A80, A100 and SM200 active speakers who want to expand their systems with dedicated low frequency reproduction.

It is also worth considering for anyone using compatible bookshelf speakers, active speakers, stereo systems or home theatre equipment and looking for a compact powered subwoofer with adjustable controls and strong amplification.

If your current speakers provide excellent clarity but leave you wanting more depth, impact and low frequency weight, the SW8 can provide the missing foundation.
