The QUAD REVELA 1 Speakers with Stand is a striking new speaker series from QUAD – the originators of ‘The Closest Approach To The Original Sound’.

The Revela series continues the QUAD innovations laid out in recent years, taking learnings from the award-winning S-series and Z-series whilst maintaining its strong design heritage, traceable back to 1949 and the first QUAD speaker – the Corner Ribbon – with the implementation of the QUAD ‘True Ribbon’ HF driver.

QUAD’s Director of Acoustics , Pete r Comeau, engineering work in further developing this Ribbon HF with over four years of research to bring a new level of musical delicacy, smoothness and ‘hear-through’ performance, thus revealing beautiful details of your music collection with a truly breath-taking performance.

The advanced ‘True Ribbon’ unit is married to equally high-performance bass and midrange drivers. Again, subject to many years of research, development, testing and continuous innovation, the mid and bass drivers feature a new advanced fibre composition, aptly labelled ‘Reveal™’. Refined for seamless integration with the ‘True Ribbon’ HF, the smooth diaphragm drivers were purpose selected based on their rigidity and excellent self-damping properties. This new diaphragm, combined with a new, specially developed custom rubber surround, for a greater excursion and a new high-power motor system, means that the result is a superb bass performance, with power, depth, speed and a rticulationin a bundance. And, of course, putting it all together is a phase-compensated Linkwitz-Riley crossover resulting from not only Computer-Aided Design but also hundreds of hours of critical listening tests using all types and flavours of music to achieve perfection.

The QUAD REVELA 1 series continues QUAD’s industrial design evolution, sported in the models of recent years – such as the Vena and Artera series. The Revela series cabinets are skilfully hand-finished to a quality far exceeding that of relative competitors in this class. The Revela series is available in options of a polished real-wood veneer and seamless polished-paint finish or a simple and uber-classy ‘all-black’ glossy paint finish. In either finish, the Revela cabinets are a sight to behold! The precision-fitted baffle is seamlessly joined, also with a polished finish, for a presentation of the highest order. More than just a genuinely stunning furniture-quality piece of craftsmanship, the cabinet is internally braced, using a purpose-engineered structure connected to the cabinet panels in a manner that dissipates unwanted vibrations and resonances, thus maintaining structural rigidity, even under the most strenuous of performances. Adding to the highly effective innovations in QUAD Revela, the port tube design is precisely positioned with the optimum diameter and flaring to prevent longitudinal resonances from colouring the speaker’s performance. The low and midrange frequencies can perform with a free-flowing purity and no unintended resonance or boominess – giving you the full dynamics of your music.

The QUAD Revela 1 – is a classic bookshelf/stand-mount monitor equipped with a 6.5″ woofer and offered with an optional custom-engineered stand of equally striking design. The stand is finished in the same high-gloss paint standards as the speaker and provides the perfect mounting option and display solution for the stand-mount offering in the series.

Both Revela models were purpose-developed with the 20x27mm QUAD True Ribbon HF driver.

A Genuine Ribbon

The QUAD REVELA 1 True Ribbon is unlike conventional dome treble units where the voice coil ‘motor’ is attached separately to the diaphragm; the Revela True RibbonTM is attached to both the diaphragm and the motor system.

Reveal™ the Revela

After years of development, the advanced fibre structure for the diaphragm of both the midrange and bass drivers was purpose selected. Exclusive to the Revela Series, the RevealTM drivers excel with their rigidity and excellent self-damping properties.

The specially developed, custom rubber surround offers a greater excursion, and a new high-power motor system facilitates superb bass performance, with power, depth, speed and articulation in abundance.

Photobook Cabinets

The high-gloss, polished finish and seamless integration of high-end, real-wood veneers exemplify the quality of engineering on display. This artisan cabinet manufacturing is capped with exquisite dark chrome trims and detailing to make for one of the standout loudspeaker industrial designs of recent years.

Endless Development

QUAD’s almost three years of research and development into creating the perfect drivers for the series with a new ‘RevealTM’ advanced fibre composition that also offers the ideal structure for a dynamic and intricate performance.

Peter Comeau’s latest crossover design involves a phase-compensated Linkwitz-Riley crossover that underwent 1000s of hours of listening tests in the pursuit of perfection.

The Finishing Touch

For Revela, QUAD wanted to create a cabinet that enhanced the acoustic output of the drivers, as well as providing a piece of furniture of which the owner can be justly proud. Hand-crafted, exotic veneers are mirrored by true piano finish lacquers, hand polished to six levels of depth to give a truly beautiful finish.

Underneath the veneer, working unseen, is a sandwich of different woods designed to reduce panel resonance to below audibility. This multi-layer construction, PROS (Panel Resonance Optimisation System), has a further benefit – it inhibits the leakage of unwanted sound energy from inside the cabinet, which would otherwise interfere with the forward output of the drive units.

QUAD Stands

The QUAD REVELA 1 stand is also custom designed in conjunction with QUAD’s Director of Acoustic Design, Peter Comeau. Every aspect is considered to create the perfect presentation of the Revela Bookshelf Speaker.

Ideal complement for stand-mount / bookshelf speakers

The Revela stand features Birch plywood piano finish columns, with a high carbon steel tube base plate and hardened high carbon steel base spikes.
