Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary Bookshelf Speakers (Pair)
The Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary Bookshelf Speakers have garnered a lot of attention due to their homage to the original Denton model that came out in 1982. These speakers have a nostalgic, retro design, but it’s their modern technology that sets them apart. With a woven Kevlar driver and soft-dome tweeter, these speakers deliver a warm, detailed sound that’s perfect for those who are passionate about music. Whether you’re an audiophile or just someone who appreciates quality sound, the Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary Bookshelf Speakers are definitely worth considering.
Wharfedale is proud to present this 85th Anniversary Edition of one of the brand’s most famous and popular loudspeakers – the Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary Limited Edition
Gilbert Briggs, who founded Wharfedale in 1932, turned the company into one of the most famous loudspeaker brands in the world by concentrating on quality and value for money.
The Wharfedale Denton exemplified these two edicts, balancing fine craftsmanship, natural sound quality and affordability, inside a compact loudspeaker that was bought in its millions right across the globe.
The original Denton went on to further other models based on its highly popular formula, the Denton 3 being the last of the line…
…until now!
Denton 85th Anniversary is a two-way speaker in the classic bookshelf tradition, beautifully hand veneered in Mahogany by Wharfedale cabinet makers with an inset front baffle and traditional Tungsten cloth grille.
Underneath the traditional exterior, however, the Denton 85th Anniversary is bang up to date and utilises a mixture of traditional and advanced technology. The bass unit features Wharfedale’s innovative woven Kevlar cone mounted on a rigid die-cast chassis, this combination delivering a rich, detailed bass/midrange output with superb dynamic performance. High frequencies are handled by a woven textile soft dome treble unit with high flux ferrite magnet, engineered for smooth, detailed HF extension.
These drive units are combined by a highly researched crossover that is near inaudible to the listener, resulting in a coherent, seamless musical output that is both thrilling and natural in its rendition of any source material.
The original Denton was well known for its warm, rich and natural sounding character and the 85th Anniversary Edition retains that character but imbues it with an open, detailed performance that will entice you to explore your whole music collection.

The Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary is one of the finest loudspeakers I have heard. I was blown away by how rich it sounded and how much detail it picked up when playing music. I’ve used it for everything from rock to jazz to orchestral recordings, and each genre has sounded amazing. If you’re looking for a loudspeaker with a classic look and modern audio quality, I highly recommend checking this out!

I’ve owned this speaker for a few months now and I truly enjoy it, I’ve even replaced my other bookshelf speakers with it (the other speaker I owned was the Dynaudio Emit M20). The build quality is excellent and it sounds way better, I enjoy listening to jazz and classic rock when I am writing and this speaker reproduces those sounds with precision.

This speaker reproduces music which is deeply involving. Its rich mid-range and prodigious bass make me want to hear more music on and on. I use this with the Audiolab 6000A, which makes a perfect pairing. This speaker although a bookshelf sounds more like a floor-standing speaker.

the sound quality of the Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary Bookshelf Speakers is exceptional. The speakers produce a clear and balanced sound that belies its size and is perfect for all genres of music. The retro design is also a plus, as it adds a touch of class to the room they are placed in. I would highly recommend these speakers to anyone looking for an exceptional sounding, high-quality, stylish addition to their home audio system.

I am not one to write reviews but these speakers produce a high-quality sound that is unmatched by most other bookshelf speakers that I have heard. I purchased the Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary Bookshelf Speakers and I must say I was impressed. These speakers have a beautiful and classic design that adds beauty to my home. But even better, the sound is simply amazing. I love how the woven Kevlar driver and soft dome tweeter work together to produce clear highs and deep lows that make my music and movies come alive. I would definitely recommend these speakers to anyone looking for a high-end sound experience.

The retro design of these speakers in Red Mahogany is absolutely stunning and adds to the overall aesthetic of my living room. The sound quality of these speakers is incredible, with a warm detailed sound, a huge soundstage and kick-ass bass that makes listening to music an absolute pleasure. This speaker needs a good high-current amplifier. I heard the demo with the Audiolab 7000A amplifier which I purchased with this speaker.

I am a huge music lover and have owned many different types of speakers over the years. I recently purchased the Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary Bookshelf Speakers and I have to say, I am blown away by the quality of sound that they produce. The nostalgic and retro design of the speakers gives me a sense of vintage class, while the modern technology inside them makes them truly stand out from other speakers on the market. The woven Kevlar driver and soft-dome tweeter deliver a warm, detailed sound that is simply unmatched by any other speaker I have owned. These speakers have truly brought my music listening experience to the next level and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is passionate about music. These speakers require at least 50-70 hours of running (break-in) time. They sound their best after around 100 hours.
Jagdish Partha –
The Wharfedale Denton speaker offers a well-balanced and engaging sound. It has a smooth treble, a full-bodied midrange, and rich bass that combine to deliver an involving sound for all day listening.

I bought these speakers on Anils recommendation about a month ago. Using this with the Marantz Pm7000N amplifier. The speaker has very good detail retrieval and after about 50 hours the sound opens up. This speaker has a huge sound stage and an open airy presentation. The bass from this speaker keeps getting better and I don’t think I will need a subwoofer. Very smooth sounding and for the first time I heard music continuously for 5-6 hours. This speaker is a gem.

Sometimes I wonder why I bought so many speakers over the years in my Audiophile journey spending a lot of money! I always try to justify that by saying I can’t be satisfied with a single sound signature as I seek variety. With this Denton 85s I’m astonished that they are so convincing with nearly every genre of music while being warm & non fatiguing. Imaging & soundstage are good too. The lower octaves have a pleasant feel while the mids & especially the voice come with a mild heft of nostalgic romance! The highs are sufficiently present without brightness for longer hours of listening. The build and appearance are beautiful in line with their intended vintage charm. They are easy to drive with all amplifiers from 50 watts. To get them to sing, give them a break-in period of 40 to 50 hours. Thease are truly a lovely addition to my collection! Don’t look further, don’t become so analytical, just buy these and get ready to enjoy years of your favourite music!
