Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 Bookshelf Speakers (Pair)
Innovative, High-performance, Whole Home Audio Solution, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 Bookshelf Speakers is for Music Lovers Of All Levels!
The all-new DIAMOND 12 Series is the best DIAMOND range yet, developed in collaboration with Karl-Heinz Fink – one of the most successful loudspeaker designers on the planet. Classic DIAMOND price points, industrial design that’s cool and contemporary yet still distinctly Wharfedale, and sound that delivers a new ‘budget’ benchmark through exceptional acoustic design and engineering – the DIAMOND 12 Series is one of the most exciting audio product launches of 2020
Still compact but with increased cabinet volume and driver size for even more potency, the Wharfedale DIAMOND 12.2 offers a little more from a traditional standmount (or bookshelf) speaker format and embodies the history and performance values of the Wharfedale DIAMOND series.
Perfect for larger rooms and more powerful 2-channel hi-fi systems, the DIAMOND 12. features a high-performance 150mm (6.5”) KlarityTM driver for extended, tight bass, and a superb 25mm (1”) woven polyester dome tweeter for open and smoothly extended high frequencies.
Klarity Affords Focus
New Klarity™ cone material, formulated from a blend of Polypropylene and mica adds stiffness to reduce flexing, enabling a lightweight cone with high rigidity, low colouration and lightning-fast response
Low Colour & Expression
The Klarity™ cone is fitted with a low-damping surround, thereby achieving both low colouration and expressive dynamics. By simulating many different cone shapes and adding ribs to provide further stiffening, a flat response curve was achieved without resorting to a high-damping surround, thereby striking the ideal balance.
A Magnet Of Forces
A precision-made magnet system with an aluminium compensation ring to minimise the effect of variations in inductance as the voice coil travels. This contributes to an absence of distortion and intermodulation generated by the ‘motor system’
A Voice Coil Beyond This Class
The voice coil is wound on a high-power epoxy/glass fibre bobbin – highly unusual in speakers at this price level. This has the advantage of not adding eddy currents and delivering greater power handling than an aluminium bobbin, whilst also being much stiffer than the Kapton type associated with this price-class.
Wide Exposure Dome Tweeter
The 25mm dome is made from a woven polyester film with a high-gloss coating to deliver open and smoothly extended high frequencies. The magnet system and the front plate have been optimised for wide dispersion and uncompressed behaviour.
The front plate is flat and exposes the dome as much as possible; only a very short duct on the front plate balances the acoustic load and improves the SPL (sound pressure level) measurement
Diamond 12’s crossover network is far more sophisticated than one usually finds in speakers in this price class. It uses a complex Linkwitz-Riley 24dB/octave topology featuring air-core inductors (coils) of the type more commonly found in high-end speakers. Air-core coils produce the lowest distortion of all inductor types, contributing to Diamond’s well-deserved reputation for freedom from listening fatigue – perfect for an evening or an entire day of stress-free music enjoyment.
The crossover network uses an acoustic LKR 24dB topology. This includes air-core inductors of the type more commonly found in high-end speakers, selected because they produce the lowest distortion of all inductor types. As the resistance of the coil is higher than a standard laminated steel or ferrite core inductor, the magnetic structure of the mid/bass driver has been modified to compensate, resulting in fast, clean bass with no distortion from the inductor.
Resonance Control Cabinet
The best drivers and crossovers in the world would be for nought in a poorly made, highly resonant enclosure. Diamond 12 cabinet walls employ a multi-layered sandwich design to suppress resonance. Inside the cabinet, Intelligent Spot Bracing connects opposite walls with a wood brace to further reduce panel flexing and vibration. These braces are precisely modelled by computer simulation to improve upon the commonplace ‘figure of eight’ brace, which may transfer resonance from one wall to another.
A rap on the side of any Diamond model and hear the reassuring “thud.” Listen to music or a cinema soundtrack and hear the purity of sound that only comes with superior drivers positioned within an acoustically inert cabinet.
Inside the cabinet, Intelligent Spot Bracing connects opposite walls with a specific form of the wood brace to achieve an optimal reduction of cabinet resonance. These braces are precisely modelled by computer simulation to improve upon the commonplace ‘figure of eight’ brace, which may simply transfer resonance from one wall to another.
All Diamond series models provide two sets of high quality 5-way binding post terminals for optional bi-wire connection. The terminals are angled, allowing easier access and neater wire management.
The Choice for Home Cinema
If assembling a superior performance home cinema system at a sensible price is your goal, the Diamond Series is an ideal choice. All models use the same tweeter, driver cone design, and crossover topology for matched tonal balance and seamless surround imaging.

These blew me away! The sound is so warm, full and round. Everything from AR Rahman to Floyd sounds excellent on these speakers. Just give them a shot.
The 12.2 Diamond book shelves is a Masterpiece with an impressive bass, detailed Centre stage image and well defined high frequencies. No need for a subwoofer and they can take on a large room with ease. Impressed with these.

I bought the Wharfedales 12.2s and have hooked them up with the Denon PMA 600 ne.The first thing that would strike you about the Wharfedales is their Cabinet Construction. They are built solid and are heavy. They also come with a Magnetic grill. Now Anil had told me that the improvement over the 11.2s was the bass…and it does kick in. Like even if you dont crank the bass on the amp they still have an adequate amount on offer. You may actually not require a sub-woofer. The separation is decent and the sound is on the warmer side.Though the break in period is around 50 hours,on first impressions they definitely look like an impressive piece of equipment.
Played Rehman, Dire Straits,Gojira, Tool and Coke Studio….the presentation was detailed and the experience immersive.
[Also worth a mention is the packaging that they come in…so the corrugated box is placed in a wooden crate…to protect the speakers]

Iam very stisfied with this speker ..amzing
Iam using marantz pm 6007 amplifier marantz and wharfhedale 12.2 is good compination …..hevenly feeling
Thank u hifi mart for such a wonderful feeling brought to me
It’s one of the best midrange bookshelf speakers. I have paired it with Marantz PM7000N, and the performance as per me Bass 5/5, well-controlled and tight bass but it will hit your chest and for the 6.5″ is given more than what I expect. Mid 4/5 is not bright and slightly muffled, Treble 4/5 does not have clarity, and the 4kHz to 7KHz range of frequencies is mostly attenuated in the cross-over section or it could be because of the Marantz amplifier. However, overall if it is placed perfectly then you can listen to the music for a few hours and fall asleep… Thanks to Anil who advised me to choose this speaker.

I bought a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 bookshelf speakers and they were the best decision I’ve ever made. They are now the centerpiece of my home entertainment system. I can’t believe how much more detail I can hear in my favorite songs and movies now. I didn’t even realize how much I was missing out on until I had a pair of these in my living room. I am completely blown away with the quality of this product. I will definitely be buying more products from Wharfedale in the future and I absolutely recommend them.

I have been using these speakers for a while now and they sound great. They are very affordable and sound like they are worth way more than they cost. The tweeters are very high quality and clear, and the woofers are strong enough to handle all kinds of music. The build quality is nice, and the cabinets are solid. I have never had a problem with them and I use them almost daily. If you are looking for a great set of speakers for a decent price, you should definitely try these.

As an avid audiophile, I recently purchased the Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 bookshelf speakers for my home audio setup, and I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed.
Right out of the box, the speakers were easy to set up and connect to my amplifier. The sleek and elegant design of the Diamond 12.2s looks great on my bookshelf and complements my home decor perfectly. But what really matters is the sound quality, and these speakers do not disappoint.
The Diamond 12.2s produce a warm and detailed sound that truly captures the essence of the music I am listening to. Whether I’m playing classical or rock, the speakers deliver clear and accurate audio with excellent depth and separation. The midrange is especially impressive, with a richness and fullness that really brings the music to life.
What’s more, the speakers are able to handle high volumes without any distortion or muddiness. The bass response is tight and punchy, and the treble is crisp and clear without being overly bright.
Overall, I highly recommend the Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 bookshelf speakers to anyone who values high-quality audio in their home entertainment system. These speakers are a true testament to the Wharfedale brand’s commitment to excellence and quality.
